Carrots are some of the toughest vegetables to handle because they are naturally very muddy and have irregular shapes. With our carrot cleaning, grading, packing lines, your carrots will be spotless clean, polished, and properly sized into uniform lengths and diameters.
At the end of the carrot line, it is possible to pack in bulk the different grades of carrots into large boxes, big bags, or raschel bags. Furthermore, you can install vertical bagging machines or flow pack machines for consumer packaging options such as poly bags, tray sealed, and more.

Carrot Processing Machines
Box Tipping & Receiving Hopper
A box tipper gently tips the boxes filled with carrots dumping them onto the receiving hopper. The hopper collects the carrots and progressively unloads them on the line. The hopper has a calculated angle such that the products are always evenly distributed as they are unloaded. Both machines have a control system to adjust the flow speed of the carrots.
Destoning Machine
Freshly harvested carrots are usually excessively dirty, covered with stones, mud, roots, and twigs that must be removed at the beginning of the processing line. The destoner machine takes care of removing clods and foreign objects that come along with the carrots and rinses the products enough for them to move along the remaining machines on the line safely.
Washing Machine
The carrot washing machine is designed to thoroughly wash carrots and baby carrots by rinsing them with recirculating water and tumbling them against each other in a stainless steel rotating drum. Brushes can be installed in the drum for an added cleaning effect, especially when the produce is covered with heavy soil.
Polishing Machine
Our polishing machine is designed to clean and polish carrots by means of finely haired brushes with a special hardness for carrots. The machine consists of a rotating drum with counter rotating brushes. The carrot polisher is perfect for giving your carrots a shiny exterior and premium look that will surely make them stand out in the market. In addition, polishing the carrots will help extend their shelf life.
Hydrocooling Machine
Our hydrocooling machine is excellent for rapidly cooling down produce, like carrots, before they are transported and distributed. The hydrocooler plays a vital role in prolonging the shelf life of carrots by removing heat and slowing down their deterioration dramatically. The cooling unit is a ‘Bitzer’ air cooled condensing unit with a semi hermetic reciprocating compressor and an air cooled Helpman condensing unit. Furthermore, the liquid receiver is TÜV tested.
Chunk / Length Grading
The chunk / length grader is engineered to mechanically sort out oversized and undersized / broken carrots. The oversized carrots are unfavorable because they do not fit in packaging while broken and undersized carrots are not commonly sold in the market. The length grader will help achieve evenly sized carrots at the end of the line by keeping the medium-sized carrots only. This machine is made of food grade stainless steel and can be delivered with various grading sizes and capacities.
Radial Grading
The radial grader is ideal for grading carrots by their largest diameters. The radial grader has laterally spaced stainless steel rollers with a small gap at first and a larger gap at the end to sort the smallest carrots first and the largest carrots last. The carrots are fed horizontally onto the grader, they fall through the gaps based on their sizes, then they are conveyed to different exits specified by the customer for each diameter range.
Optical Sorting
Our carrot sorting machine plays an important role of distinguishing between the perfect and defective carrots in the processing line. The carrot sorter can handle a wide variety of carrots including peeled, unpeeled, washed, muddy, whole, or baby carrots. Our machines employ the latest laser vision and chromatic imaging technologies to detect flaws invisible to the naked eye at remarkable speeds. The optical sensors inspect each product from all sides for size variations, discolorations, deformities, damages, quality defects, and extraneous objects.
Automatic Net Bagging
The different grades of carrots can be packed into large raschel bags at the end of the line. This is possible by means of an automatic weighing machine which accurately calculates the quantity of carrots that must drop into the net bag as specified by the user. Then, a net bagging machine will pack the carrots in raschel bags whose sizes can range from 2.5 kg up to 25 kg. The bagging machine automatically opens each bag, fills them with the appropriate amount of produce and seals the bag shut.
Box and Bag Filling
It is also possible to fill the graded carrots in bulk into boxes and big bags. The box and bag filling machines are designed to safely collect large volumes of carrots in large boxes / bags at a well calculated fall height. The box filling machines have a smart mechanism that removes the filled boxes and replaces them with new ones to continuously collect the carrots without any interruptions. Several box and bag filling machines can be installed at the different exits to collect the uniformly sized carrots in the same box.
